Masculine Moose

Second post for today...playing catch up!   Several friends and I are doing informal challenges to keep our stamping spark lit, and last week I picked a masculine themed card challenge...no other requirements.  I made this one for OWH, thinking of a service member who might want to send a birthday card to a father, brother, or male friend and might not choose flowers or butterflies!

I did go to Dynamic Duos  for color inspiration, which was Crumb Cake and one other color of your choice.   Am I bad for associating Early Espresso (brown/dirt) with males?  It's true though.   So, on a crumb cake (kraft) base, I layered the embossed leaf dirt, I mean, Early Espresso panel, then the sponged moose image and the sentiment, hoping the banner edge lent to the birthday theme.

  My girls'  masculine cards:
Carrie...hope you'll join us next time...I know you're stamping!  :)

Thanks for looking!

Peachy Keen

Peach Parfait is not typically the color I reach for (um, that would be PINK!), but it worked for me here.  Based on Freshly Made Sketches #40, I started with an ivory base (Gina K pure luxury cardstock), SU Sunny Garden designer paper matted in Peach Parfait and wrapped with a Certainly Celery ribbon.  Then I used Nestabilities dies (oval and lacey oval) for the focal image, stamped with Gina K's One in a Million and Petals and Wings (sentiment) stamps.  Instead of putting the sentiment on the banners (SU Bitty Banners) in the lower left, I put a butterfly from the SU butterfly embosslit and embellished with ivory pearls.

  This is the sketch:

And, I have to say, while I don't really leave a lot of comments on blogs or expect comments on mine, when the gals from Freshly Made Sketches left comments on my last cards,  it did make me smile!     A very nice group to play along with!   Thanks, Ladies!

CAS Birthday

Good Monday Morning!    It's a particularly good Monday, in spite of the gloomy skies and possible rain, as I am on vacation for 2 weeks!   Yay!    And, since mojo has returned, it may just be a very stampy vacation. Ink/Cardstock: Night of Navy, Bashful Blue, Rich Razzleberry (omitted Crumb Cake)

Faux Pressed Flowers

TGIF for some of you! It's my weekend to work though, so kinda like a Monday for me...LOL. Anyway, I am so excited about this new technique! If you use your prima flowers, it's called Faux Pressed Flowers, but if you use punched or die cut pieces (like the leaves), it's called Embedded Image. And it's SO easy! Just arrange the pieces, glue them down and use an embossing folder to get this look! I used the Square Lattice folder from Stampin' Up, but it would be interesting to try some other ones. I love new techniques that are easy!

Thanks for looking!

Stamps: SU Fabulous Phrases (card 1), SU Curly Cute (card 2)
Ink: SU Melon Mambo
Cardstock: vanilla, pear pizzazz, garden green, pretty in pink (card 1); melon mambo, pretty in pink, pear pizzazz, garden green (card 2)

Verve Sketch Week 3

Happy Birthday, Carrie! Hope you have a wonderful day!

This card was inspired by both the Verve sketch and by the SCS Techniques Lovers Challenge(TLC)...Silhouettes. I stamped the image and sentiment with versamark on the DP and embossed it with white embossing powder. With the subtle look of this DP, I'm happy with it, but for a bolder image, I might try Craft white and white ep next time.

Have a good day!

Stamps: SU Watercolor Trio
Ink: Versamark
Paper: White, Bordering Blue, Pink Pirouette, Bella Bird DP
Etc: white taffeta ribbon, butterfly punch, pearl

Guess who got new toys?!!

Hi!

A very simple and quick card today for a couple of challenges on SCS. One was to use butterflies...check, and one was to find inspiration from a fingernail design site....check! Here is a link to the site...my nail was #0267

Now, as for new toys, I just picked up the butterfly stamp at JoAnn's...on sale, yay! And the same day my new Nestabilities dies arrived...I just LOVE this lacey circle die! I have been on a craft spending freeze for awhile now, but I got a check from doing jury duty (thank goodness I wasn't selected for the trial...a murder case expected to last for 4 months. That would've been interesting, but really difficult too.), so I spent it on one of my favorite supplies. Sigh..new dies are coming out too...one is a lattice rectangle that is just beautiful! Do you have a favorite Nestabilities die?

Thanks for visiting!

Stamps: Inkadinkado, PTI Butterfly set (Butterfly Kisses?)...sentiment
Ink: SU Night of Navy
Paper: SU Crumb Cake & Night of Navy
Etc.: Lacey Circle & Circle Nestabilities, Sakura Stardust pen, prismacolor pencil, and my faithful Stampamajig

Flowers & Flutterbys

Wow...this week's color challenge on SCS was "Pretty Cherry Melon!" I was excited about the pinks, but cherry cobbler? That was hard. Had to think about it for a couple of days, then finally was able to combine it with the sketch challenge and come up with this. Then I stamped the sentiment crooked....hate it when that happens! LOL Thank goodness for that word window punch...almost like I intended to use it there. :) TFL!

Stamps: Inkadinkado (image), SU Fabulous Phrases (sentiment)
Ink: SU Cherry Cobbler, Melon Mambo, Pretty in Pink
Paper: SU Cherry Cobbler, PIP, white, Afternoon Tea and Razzleberry Lemonade DP
Etc.: SU Elegant Bouquet embossing folder, SU word window punch, nestabilities dies, pearls

Inspired by Beverly!

My pen pal, Beverly, suggested a card-a-day challenge on Facebook, and on one of her lovely cards she'd used this Square Lattice embossing folder, which I love but had neglected (ok, never used). So, her card inspired me to use that folder! This was also made for the Ways to Use It challenge on SCS...to use twine. I just tied it in a simple bow and stuck it on with a glue dot. The coloring was done with Prismacolor pencils...omg, they really are easy to use on kraft/crumb cake cardstock! Thanks for looking...have a good day!

Stamps: TAC Spring Flowers, SU On Your Birthday
Ink: Versafine Vintage Sepia
Paper: SU Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip, Daffodil Delight
Etc: Twine, Fiskars border punch, Spellbinders die, embossing folder

Sunny Garden

This is a case'd card from the Featured Stamper (FS) challenge on SCS, FS204 to be exact. I love the SU Sunny Garden DP, and had hesitated to cut it up until now. This layout allowed me to use quite a few of the patterns, and sometimes I really like a card that has a sentiment as the focal image. The sun came out today, and it's supposed to be sunny all week. I'm sure that had something to do with choosing these colors! Thanks for looking!

Stamps: Hero Arts sentiment
Ink: SU Peach Parfait
Paper: SU Poppy Parade, Pear Pizzazz, Daffodil Delight, Sunny Garden DP
Etc.: SU flower punch, clear button w/ poppy circle, pearls, butterfly die

Wild & Crafty Chocolates

I made this card for the CAS Challenge on SCS, a color challenge, using the colors Wild Wasabi, Kraft, Chocolate Chip and White. No matter what I tried, those circle layers were crooked....so be it! LOL The butterfly stamp matches the butterflies in the DP, which is kinda neat.

Paper: Kraft (aka Crumb Cake), Chocolate Chip, Wild Wasabi, White, and Afternoon Tea DP
Ink: Versamark, Choc. Chip
Etc: White embossing powder, punches, piercing tool & brass template, pearl
