Happy Fall, Y'all!

 

  I know there's a few more weeks until fall officially begins, but since it also starts some changes for me, I got a little excited!  After tomorrow night, I won't have to work more than 3 night shifts/month (plus 3 evening shifts), and at the end of Sept. I start a Lactation Consultant program.   Going back to school is both exciting and scary, but that's what change is about, right?    So, putting all this extra energy to use and doing some stamping!     This card is for a challenge to do the spotlighting technique.   I really like it because it's less intimidating to color a little circle of an image than the whole thing!   This is an old SU set called....Happy Fall Y'all.....lol

New Cards to Share!

 Hello!   Long time no stamp!   Well, I did stamp but had trouble finishing the cards, which is unlike me..I usually won't get up until one is done.   This card was inspired by Julie's challenge to use vellum...I hope you can see my vellum butterflies...they went through the cuttlebug in the swiss dots embossing folder, then I added the sentiment on a vellum strip.   It was the first time I tried sponging a sunset...need a little more practice blending I think.   The stamps are SU..Just Believe and Wonderful Words.   Lucky I could find my vellum...lol...great challenge, Julie!   :)

And, another card!  We had a nice cool weekend and it really felt like fall (of course, short lived), so I pulled out the Fall Foliage set from Gina K Designs and cardstock, DP, ribbon and brads from the StampTV kit Sun Kissed Autumn and put this together.  I love using the swirl embossing folder for fall cards....like wind blowing leaves.   OK, here's a tip...the thumping technique is best left to markers...thumping with ink pads leaves one pad a mess.  :p

Easy Technique

  When both Beverly and Julie raved about StampTV,  I remembered to check it out.  The Letterpress with Cuttlebug Folder technique looked so easy..and it was!   At first I was dismayed by the ink smudges on the cardstock, but when I went back to the tutorial, Gina K had them on hers too....whew!  :)     Here's a link....StampTV video

Faux Pressed Flowers

TGIF for some of you! It's my weekend to work though, so kinda like a Monday for me...LOL. Anyway, I am so excited about this new technique! If you use your prima flowers, it's called Faux Pressed Flowers, but if you use punched or die cut pieces (like the leaves), it's called Embedded Image. And it's SO easy! Just arrange the pieces, glue them down and use an embossing folder to get this look! I used the Square Lattice folder from Stampin' Up, but it would be interesting to try some other ones. I love new techniques that are easy!

CAS100/Pretty Amazing Petals

Well, I cannot have ZERO pink cards on this blog! LOL! This one was made for the CAS challenge on SCS, to use the kissing technique. I inked the solid flower stamp from Pretty Amazing in Pretty in Pink ink, then "kissed" it on the Pretty Petals background stamp that was inked in Rose Red. Pretty easy and neat effect! Happy 2011! We are so boring...hanging with Ryan Seacrest and staying up late only because Chris worked until 11:30pm and needed a ride home. LOL (New driver curfew is 11pm) However today is the first annual family Chili-fest, so we'll party hearty to make up for last night! Who wants some Martinelli's cider now? :) Cheers!

CC303/Blue Magic

This is my first attempt at the "Black Magic" technique, which was a feature on SCS this week. I used Night of Navy instead of black, to coincide with the color challenge of Old Navy Delight.
